When we adopt dogs, it means that we’re taking in a new family member into our homes. Owning a dog is a huge responsibility. However, not all people understand that it’s not easy to take care for a dog.
A dog named Tad was adopted out of a rescue shelter when he was still a puppy. Rescue workers and volunteers through that Tad finally found his forever home. However, six months later, Tad was returned to the shelter and apparently suffered from neglect and abuse. Tad was also almost starved to death.
Tad was emotionally scarred and found it hard to trust humans again. Thankfully, a woman named Jolene Mercadante followed Tad’s story and felt sorry for the puppy. Jolene decided to give Tad a forever home where he’s loved and around other dogs that will teach him what love is like.
Jolene introduced Tad to a life that he deserved. Tad got to meet Jolene’s other dogs, who taught him how to have fun and what it’s like to be loved. Tad was having the best days of his life, but he couldn’t get over what happened to him in his previous home. Tad passed away, and everyone grieved, and Tad’s doggie siblings didn’t understand what was happening.
It was apparent that Jolene’s dogs were aware of Tad’s passing. No one was playing, and it was really quiet. Jolene thought that she needed to do something. Although everyone in her family loved Tad, she’s still a mom to her other dogs.
Jolene decided to adopt a rescue pit bull puppy named Minnow, which was the best thing that ever happened for everyone in Jolene’s house. Minnow is such an easy-going puppy that’s full of life. Her energy is infectious, and Jolene’s other dogs started playing again with Minnow around.
Minnow isn’t a replacement for Tad. She’s there to honor the memory of Tad. Jolene thinks that Tad sent Minnow into their lives, telling everyone to be happy and have fun. Here’s a heartwarming video showing how a family honored the memory of Tad by adopting another rescue pit bull who helped the family heal.
