When you hear a disturbance inside your house in the middle of the night, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
Pretty sure you will be freaking out, thinking there’s an intruder ready to rob you, or perhaps, murder you in your sleep, right?
For Jack Jokinen and his wife, the same things were running through their minds when they woke up because of a disturbance.
Jack was sure he locked the door and windows. When he finally decided to check it out, what he saw was not what he expected.
Inside the house was a puppy. It was staring right back at Jack through its puppy eyes.
Jack checked every cabinet and room to make sure there was no one else in the house.
There was no one – aside from the puppy.
Both Jack and his wife were stumped. Was it a magical puppy? After all, the door was closed when he went down to check.
So what happened?
Wanting to know what really happened, Jack checked on the security cameras, and sure enough, everything was caught in the video.
As it turns out, the dog was walking past their house when it noticed that the door was open. Jack had taken his dog out for a walk that night and had forgotten to securely shut the door when he got home.
As it was stormy outside, the wind had blown the door open, and the dog just went in and made itself at home.
According to Jack, it was scary to think, how at a certain time that night, their door was wide open, and anything bad could have happened.
But thankfully, as he continued to watch the security camera, he found out that a man walked past his house and saw the open door. The man appeared to call out to them, and when no one answered, he took it to himself to close the door for the resident’s safety.
What a neighbor! Jack definitely did not miss the opportunity to thank the friendly neighbor for his deed.
With the puppy in their house, Jack was given two options: one, they could turn it in to the shelter, or two, they could bring it to the vet.
Jack did not have second thoughts and brought the dog to the vet. The dog was obviously neglected as it was thin and emaciated. It was also covered in fleas.
And as it turns out, it was no puppy. The dog was already nine years old and only looked small due to malnourishment.
Since it had no microchip, Jack decided to take it in and care for it. He wanted the dog to have a good home for the remainder of its life.
The dog was later named Suzyn Pupman after the 73-year-old sportscaster, Suzyn Waldman.
Jack has put up an Instagram and Facebook account for Suzyn where he will make updates about her, and any donations to support her medical needs are welcome.
Though Jack reiterated that even if there are no donations, they will take good care of Suzyn for the rest of her life.
It’s like fate brought the dog to their house.
