Have you ever experienced having to go to work while your dog is sick or injured at home? If you have, then you surely know what it feels to be physically present but mentally absent. Even if you are at work, you are unable to get any work done throughout your shift because you are worried about your furbaby at home.
Furbabies are babies
Even if there are still plenty of people who refuse to accept it, furbabies are babies. They require the same attention and care as that of a helpless child. When they are sick or in pain, they are unable to tell their pawparents how they feel.
Luckily for the employees of one Melbourne company, ICD Property, the human resources team recognized this fact. Aware that families these days are no longer only composed of parents and their children, the human resources team offered all employees an extra incentive: the paw-ternity leave. By availing of the paw-ternity leave, employees can now take days off to care for their pets.
Worry-free employees are productive employees
ICD Property allows their employees to help a new pet get settled in their home. ICD Property also offers two days of carers leave so furparents can tend to a sick or injured pet and even take some time off after a loss. As a result, their employees cannot be any happier!
Sal Quah, an ICD Property employee and the furparent of Paris the Cavoodle, says availing of the carers leave allowed him to focus on caring for his furbaby. He also says it allowed him to return to work feeling refreshed. Finally, Quah says that it allowed him to resume working without having to worry about his furbaby at home.
This goes to show that worry-free employees are productive employees! ICD Property, as well as millions of furparents all over the world, hope that other companies would follow suit. To get more information about the paw-ternity leave, watch the video below:
