Let’s Adopt International found Gino lying by the side of the road. He was scrawny and weak that he couldn’t stand on his own. But what really broke the hearts of the rescuers was the sad look in his eyes.
The rescue team knew Gino was injured. But they had no idea how bad the dog’s condition was. When one of the team members tried to touch him, the poor dog cried. Gino felt excruciating pain even with the slightest contact.
The rescuers gently scooped up Gino and drove him straight to the animal hospital. X-ray results revealed the dog suffered from multiple fractures. They believed a car hit him and left his tibia, femur, and his hip bone broken.
Gino was in deep pain, so the vets put him on pain meds. Once he was ready, the doctors operated on him. First, they repaired his tibia and his femur. And once he recovered, the vets reconstructed his hip.
The first two surgeries were successful. But sadly, the accident created more severe problems. Gino needed another complex surgery to fix his cruciate ligaments. A month later, the vets did another procedure to realign the dog’s tibia and femur completely.
Gino spent over a year at the hospital. Once he fully recovered, Let’s Adopt International began searching for his new home. It was a complicated process, but Gino soon left to meet his new family.
Viktor Larkhill, the founder of Let’s Adopt International, together with his friend Sergio, accompanied Gino to his new home. They left for the airport at 4 in the morning and hopped on the plane for an 8-hour flight. After landing in New York, Viktor and Sergio drove for ten more hours to make it to West Virginia.
Gino’s new family couldn’t wait to have him. They even hanged a tarpaulin that read “Welcome Home, Gino” on their garage door. After what he’s been through, Gino is fortunate that he finally found his perfect match.
