Dogs are one of the friendliest animals in the world. If given a chance, they will gladly take in animals of any species as their own and take good care of them.
Searching the internet, you may have already read or seen a lot of dogs being the best surrogate parent to an abandoned baby animal. And rightly so, dogs are indeed the best when it comes to maternal care.
As odd as it seems, even male dogs are known to take in baby animals to care for them. They do their best to nurture the babies and teach them how to survive.
Dogs somehow have an uncanny ability to provide a mother’s love even to those of a different species. Dogs are naturally loving and caring parents to adopted babies.
When Dotty, a speckled lamb, was born, her mother sadly rejected her, possibly because of her speckled appearance. Dotty is a product of cross-breeding between a purebred white Dorper ram, and a Dorper and Van Rooy mix ewe. In the end, Dotty’s appearance caused her mother to reject her.
After Dotty was rejected by her own mother, Zoe, the owner’s Dalmatian, quickly came to the rescue. John Bolton, who was the owner, was not surprised as Zoe had a similar speckled appearance with Dotty, and thus, they immediately took to each other.
Zoe soon showed everyone that she could be the best surrogate mother to Dotty. The pair eventually became inseparable, and Zoe’s motherly instinct has helped give Dotty a new leash on life.
While Dotty depends on John for milk, Zoe provides her with the love and presence of a mother in the absence of Dotty’s biological mother. Zoe is able to nurture Dotty and teach her the ins and outs of life.
