How far would anyone go in being an animal lover? I got curious when I learned about what Mary Alloy did. She is an animal lover and a franchise owner of a pizza shop in Amherst, New York. Mary thought of using her business as a tool for helping orphaned dogs. She has attached flyers that had the images of these rescue dogs on the pizza boxes for delivery.
If I had not known that Mary Alloy is an animal lover, I would not have agreed with her idea. It was way out of line. It would’ve been more appropriate if I see a flyer about rescue dogs for adoption in pet salons or vet clinics, but pizza boxes? I must commend Mary, though, for going the extra mile in helping these dogs from Niagara SPCA find their families. It was a bold decision for her, but she just pushed through with the idea.
Mary’s passion paid off as it was well-received, especially by animal lovers like her. Other business establishments are also open to this idea. So there’s a good chance for these adorable pups to be adopted. Not to mention a day after this drive was launched, Larry, a six-month-old pup, was adopted. You just can’t describe how happy Larry was when finally he found the people who will love and care for him.
Kimberly La Russa, an event coordinator of SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), feels grateful for all the help that Mary had extended to the shelter. In fact, Mary is already thinking that as soon as these dogs are adopted, she would feature cats next. I wish there were more Mary Alloys out there, whose heart is as big as the ocean. She is an inspiration to animal lovers like us who wants to make life better for these animals.
